So lets speak about why do we don't have any new people joining the community.
Why is our server mostly filled with people that play here for years. Why are the most played maps here not the ones that are considered "cars" or "fun" but the ones that are more public like or unbalanced. Let's take de_rats for example. What is fun about it. What criteria did it go thru that Maverick allowed it instead of some map that is actually fun. Why is awp_snowfun considered "cars" or "fun" map. Whats fun about awp snowfun. Lets say as a new player sees our server "oh a fun server, and cars also nice". He comes, awp snowfun is played and once the round starts he cant even start walking. Boom awped. Boom again awped. And then he leaves ofc. Also goes for de_mario_air. He just bought a weapon, ready to start round, boom Terrorist teleports above your spawn and kills you.
So whats your point Roller?
My point is if you, Maverick, want to have more people joining, and actually people staying here, you should consider removing maps that are by their way of playing, disabling new people from staying here because of the fast kill mechanics that they contain. And also its still not clear to me whats so fun about de_rats1337 so that you added it instead of any other fun or cars map. It only made this server more competetive and less fun.

Maps that should be removed for balancing the server:

de_rats1337
de_farmrush
awp_snowfun2

I don't really care for first two they just were suggested and added, but the last two, are well known and great maps with their good and bad sides and I personally would regret to see them go, but in order to improve the map cycle if there is agreement I will put them off at least temporally.
And yes I agree some maps (probably about 20 ) are not quite fun or either include cars, neither they are perfect balance-wise, they way they are structured or the objective-wise, but somehow they found their way in the server because at some point someone closed his eyes in order, everyone, to be moderately happy. :)

Alright, let's remove the first 2 and temporarly remove the last 2. Lets see how it works, what does community have to say about the changes. Also i wanna suggest if you could remove de_school_attack, it's really an unbalanced map that has no either cars or is fun. Terrorists get to CTs in 5 seconds, and have the roof advantage. Map design is also crap.

You didn't remove de_rats1337 and temporarly remove awp_snowfun2.

Can't see why are the de_rats_1337 and de_farmrush removed. True, they're not vehicle maps and don't have any particular thing that could make them "fun" in genre, but they're adapted to our way of gameplay. Hence de_rats is pretty much recognised as classic and popular one in public genre, many would like to play that one on server. And it proved good since I've found couple of times that the server was doing well with this map. In my opinion, "not being fun like the other maps" and "not having vehicles" aren't much for the arguments to counter the fact that the map should be disbanded from the server, hence the map was doing really well. It was definitely one of the most successful maps on the cycle.
de_farmrush was doing alright as well, can't see why is it also removed. But it's not a big deal as it is with the de_rats. At least I would appreciate bringing the rats back.

I approve that you've removed the others from the list though, specially de_mario_air and awp_snowfun2 - mostly of them were pretty uncomfortable for newer players.

Thats what im saying. Maps like de_rats and de_farmrush are adapted by the players who play here for months even years. Maybe you didn't understand what i wrote, but i was trying to set you guys in position of the new players. They didn't come to fun server to play de_rats that is played on every other pub server. We gotta offer more. Before more then a year we had so many great maps and so much fun, and such a living community, and we didnt have neither rats neither snowfun neither mario air. Until i get any valid argument that those maps should stay i will stick to my opinion that they should be removed.

And yet, I went along with removing maps such as de_mario_air and awp_snowfun2, which are decent maps for mostly of us, but troublesome for new players - so I did agree with them dropping off. The reasons are clear for those two.

And my argument about de_rats has been loud and clear: we get players with the rats map and mostly of them are happy with it. It's a pretty common map and some of new players should recognize it, if they have played the CS for a while. Rats has no reason to be removed. I don't know what kind of another argument would you want, that alone should reach the satisfactory point for the good of server. It doesn't have vehicles and it doesn't have ''fun thingies'', so what? It has almost hit the roof of popularity compared to other maps and it's tied with ones such as chopper_attack and big cities. That map is a wonderful choice to be in. New players will have problems at any map they play at our server - not any server have maps that are played at ours. They'll eventually adapt to it if they continue to play and they'll eventually get it how to play. There are players that can't memorise even de_dust2 or any classic map that well, much to advantage of opposite's team - but there are admins that can help him. Players themself also HAVE TO adapt to the mode, as much as we are trying to help them get into it. de_rats is fairly balanced in terms of positioning.
de_rats isn't played that much at the servers that are hardcore public although - it's about de_dust2, de_inferno, de_aztec and such that are designed for publics to the core.
And if we stick to maps that have only vehicles and things, we won't make any change - what would you do with just them on the cycle? Consider that not every map, specially those that aren't from Nipper, looks good and safe for new players.

And I can't see what's the difference between the server from year ago and now, although I didn't join the community just yet then. I would say that we've improved, little by little. Yeah, we lost many of old players - have in mind that this is an old game and that they've moved to something up-to-date or they've quit playing video games (that much). We just have to move on and steadily wait for another to come. I think I did understand what you wanted to say.
